OUR MISSION
Synergy Dance Academy is the first dance school in the Netherlands without fixed gender roles in dance. Founded in 2022, we create a space where everyone feels welcome, equal, and free on the dance floor.

Bachata is a partner dance from the Dominican Republic, known for its rhythm, flow, and deep connection between two people. It blends musicality, body movement, and emotional expression, creating a dance that feels both grounded and expressive. At Synergy, we teach bachata through RoleRotation — a method where every dancer learns both leading and following instead of being fixed to one role. In our classes, roles rotate naturally, allowing you to understand the mechanics of the dance from both perspectives. This approach strengthens your technique, balance, timing, and sensitivity to connection. By learning to both guide and respond, you develop clearer communication and a more complete understanding of the music. We combine structured fundamentals with creative exploration, so you build confidence while staying playful and curious. RoleRotation is not only about switching roles — it’s about expanding your skills, breaking traditional limitations, and experiencing bachata in a more open, inclusive way.

Of course! Our beginner course is suitable for absolute beginners. Even if you think you can't dance, you are welcome to join the class, it's gonna be fun!
It's perfectly fine, you don't need a partner to join the classes. The beauty of role rotation is that anyone can dance with anybody else, so "role balance" is not an issue in our class. We rotate partners and roles within one session.
You don't. All participants gain the same amount of knowledge. You will lead AND follow during one class. Even if you have a background in one of the roles, there will always be plenty to learn about the other one
No special shoes or clothes are needed. Wear what is comfortable for you and your feet. A pair of sneakers would be great, but even boots are fine.
All our classes at the moment are in Utrecht, Overvliet 54, but we can do collaborations and events anywhere in the Netherlands, as well as abroad. We don't have regular online classes, but do reach out if you are interested :)
