Launched by us — Fiorella and Linda — in 2022, our school offers a unique approach to dancing bachata, breaking away from traditional and assigned gender roles, and promoting equal participation for all.
With over 20 years of combined experience, we bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the floor. At Synergy Dance Academy, we believe that dance is for everyone — in any role -, regardless of gender.
That’s why we offer a safe environment and community where you can be both the leader and the follower, freeing yourself from limitations and exploring the full range of your dance potential. BACHATA
Bachata dancing is a captivating partner dance that originated in the Dominican Republic, characterized by its sensuality, rhythmic movements, and emotional expressions. The dance has a rich history that reflects the cultural and social dynamics of the Dominican Republic and has evolved over time into a popular and diverse dance form enjoyed worldwide.
In the present day, bachata dancing remains a vibrant and influential dance style with a global following. It is celebrated through workshops, festivals, competitions, and social events around the world. While its roots in sensuality and emotion persist, bachata continues to evolve as dancers experiment with new choreographies, techniques, and cultural influences.
At its core, RoleRotation in Bachata entails a fluid and flexible exchange of dance roles between partners, transcending rigid gender norms and allowing dancers to explore diverse expressions of movement. Unlike the traditional model where one partner assumes the leading role and the other follows, RoleRotation encourages a dynamic interplay where both partners have the opportunity to lead and follow. This approach is not confined by gender stereotypes, creating an environment where dancers are free to explore their full creative potential.
